Paddington House of Pancakes, 1 Utama (Revisit)

Did I say I love pancakes?

Here it is again.

Now this one I can’t remember the name of the dish, but I think it’s a pannekok. However it looked pretty much like a crepe to me.

pannekok 2

With two huge scoops of ice creams (flavour of your choice) carefully placed inside the hot crepe, topped with whipped cream and cranberry sauce and sided with apple fritters, fresh strawberries and raisins.

pannekok 3
Ice creams size of a fist each inside.

This is a dish big enough for two. Big enough to make you full.

I couldn’t finish it, but it’s gooooood. Priced at RM18.50, which is very reasonable seeing that my favourite treasure box is RM17.

Is it me or the weather?

These two or three months or so I have been sweating inconsolably. I don't understand why?

I have never been a sweaty person. But is has been seriously hot these past few weeks.

Is the weather getting really really hot over the months, or is it just my metabolism miraculously increases?

Has anyone encounter this problem? Because I really hate sweating. -.-

Paddington House of Pancakes, 1 Utama

Warning: the following review is written out of complete bias-ness

Pancakes. Who doesn’t love pancakes.

treasure box 4

They are gorgeous food.

Easy to make, nice to see, and good to eat. It’s basically any kind of batter made with flour, eggs and milk, can be baked, fried in skillet or griddle. It can be thick, or thin and comes in different names in different countries.

The first time I got to know about Paddington House of Pancakes was last year, I was instantly blown away by its menu and have sworn to make it one of my A list favourite place to dine at.

napkin

Serving over 300 types of pancakes, from savouries to sweet, snacks to party size, cold to hot, American to Dutch, you can think of it, they have it; you can’t think of it, they too have it.

savoury pancake 2

I particularly took a fancy to the American Breakfast Savoury Pancakes. The recipe is so simple, yet so delicious. I never knew hash brown could taste so well with pancakes. Fried to crisp, it fuses well with the soft-as-feather flapjacks (American slang for pancakes), if you drizzle their specially made mushroom gravy on top, orchestra!

chicken burger pancake

When serve hot, as they always do. The Chicken Burger (a name that doesn’t do the dish justice) pancake is more than your average burger, it’s pancake burger!

And you have never tried burger until you tried pancake burger; no bread beats the softness and creaminess of pancakes, makes me wonder why isn’t burger made of pancake in the first place.

chicken burger pancake 2

Now, you can eat any pancake you wish. BUT!!! You should be jailed if you have visited the Paddington’s before but have never ordered or yet to eat dollar sized pancakes!!

What are dollar size pancakes? It’s Dutch for one. The Dutch is famous for their poffertjes (dollar sized pancakes) which are usually served sweet with icing sugar, syrup or jam.

treasure box 3

Treasure Box. Fits well for its name. The dish itself is godly. Fit for the king, and queen.

With very generous servings of strawberries, almond nuts, peaches, dollar pancakes, banana, raisins and so many other goodies inside, drizzle as much syrup as you wish over the dish and let the magic of this amazing creation satisfy your sweet tooth and hunger.

treasure box 2

The hot cake, the cold ice creams, the hint of blueberry sauce – I can eat this everyday!

Paddington should really consider taking this photo as its poster pic.

La Gourmet House, The Curve

Last Christmas I went to the curve with Gerald to enjoy my night feast for the season. We popped by La Gourmet for a fancy dinner for two since we have never been to the restaurant before and we liked something new.

I ordered the Cabonara, recommended by the waitress at RM22 or so (can’t really recall the price as it was some time ago).

cabonara

It was spectacular and beyond my expectation. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

cabonara 2

The cream was rich but not too overwhelming and the spaghetti cooked to al dente. I could taste a hint of herb and olive oil which was brought out the flavour of the dish.

Gerald ordered a Homemade Pie which was alright, they seemed to have microwave the cooked pie for re-heating purposes and didn’t really do a good job.

homemade pie

However my drink was fantastic to go with my delicious meal.

green tea latte 2

Ice Green Tea Latte.

One word: Splendid.

It’s actually a lot nicer than Starbucks’ (though I still love Starbucks), sweet to a very favourable level and it costs RM8.

Will go back for more.

green tea latte

It looked pricey for a restaurant of its calibre but it really isn’t. Meals for two with drinks come up to RM62 which is reasonable comparing to most pub food you get around KL.

Durian Cheesecake

Short talk: Sorry for the lack of update, been a busy week at Melaka taking care of my mom.

The other day I saw this beautifully made cheesecake from masak-masak which I was linked from A whiff of lemon grass.

It’s not just any cheesecake, it’s a durian cheesecake.

I love durian cakes, and I love cheesecakes, what’s not to like about durian cheesecake. So I decided to get one myself.

durian cheesecake

It’s very rich in texture. I doubt I can get anything out there that’s have as rich of a durian flesh in a cake, the whole cake is basically made of durians, and cheese… (that’s why it’s a durian cheesecake, duh~!)

durian cheesecake slice 2

Conclusion?

Is very very nice. Seems like I’ve become a great fan of durian cheesecake now.

durian cheesecake slice

You can only buy it from fatboybakes who made the cake at RM60.

Sure Win Diet Plan

My friend told me this is a sure win diet plan that's bound to achieve your weight goal in 3 months.

Never hurt to try.

Diet Tips
==============

My diet program consist of 3 phases. Phase 1 encourages snacking because it stabilizes blood sugar, which minimizes cravings and ultimately helps you manage your weight. If you're accustomed to snacking on chips and pretzels, you probably like some crunch when you munch. Since those snacks may send your blood sugar soaring, it's better to select a nutrient-dense, fiber-rich snack. Nuts are a delicious and obvious go-to choice, but they're not your only crunchy snack option! Here are some other healthy, Phase-specific nibbles to add to your snacking repertoire:

Phase 1 ( 2weeks )
Raw veggies, including celery, green and red peppers, cauliflower, and broccoli florets
Dill pickles (seek out the no-sugar-added variety and limit your consumption if you're watching sodium intake)
Edamame (boiled soybeans — sold by the bag in the frozen foods section of most supermarkets)
Sunflower seeds (count these toward your daily nut/seed allowance)
Soy nuts

Phases 2 and 3: Everything above PLUS the below...:)

Carrot sticks
Whole-wheat crackers
High-fiber, low-sugar, whole-grain cereal
Air-popped or microwavable popcorn (check the label to be sure it doesn't contain trans fats)
Frozen grapes
Apple slices with artificially sweetened, nonfat or low-fat yogurt dip
Toasted whole-wheat pita bread, sliced into triangles, with hummus

Bolognese Pasta at Signatures Food Court, Suria KLCC

Housing over 1200 seats, the newly revamped Signatures Food Court at Suria KLCC is more than what it seems.

In fact, I discovered this jewel few years back when it was still Scotts Picnic Food Court.

The second stall beginning on the left lies a stall that is constantly flooded with customers and a fair bit of queue, serves the best Bolognese, in my opinion, in KL.

bolognese pasta 2

It’s not truly authentic, it doesn’t have a lot of kick ass ingredients a Bolognese should have. But the secret of how this truly amazing dish captured my heart years ago and still has, lies in its sauce.

Oh my god if only I know the secret ingredient of this pasta I would be making love to my kitchen every day.

bolognese pasta
A bit messy cause couldn’t wait already start eating

We also tried their Marinara Pasta.

marinara pasta 2

It was good but nothing as compared to the Bolognese.

However there’s a very generous serving of juicy prawns.

marinara pasta

For RM8.99 average per dish, I think it’s fairly reasonable.
