Bei Zhan, Melaka

On mother's eve, my family and I went to Melaka's famous Chinese restaurant Bei Zhan for a family dinner.

I brought white wine.

allandale verdelho

Allandale Verdelho, quite smooth to the throat.

And a little gift for mom.

jam gifts to mom
Westin's miniature jams in a wooden box.

We started off with a cold dish (Mother's day special) that cost RM45, pretty expensive.

cold dish - maki and spring rolls

But it was the best cold fish, I simply LOVE the Unagi and fish roe maki.

The combination of glutinous rice and mayo was heavenly. I rate this dish 5/5.

We also have the usual dishes.

sweet and sour pork

Sweet and sour pork, so so.

steamed cod fish

Steamed Cod in Oil, this is amazing. The cod was surprisingly fresh, and wonderful with the wine too.

And lastly, my mom's and bro's favourite.

tong po pork

"Tong Po Rou" or Braised Pork. It's alright, a bit over fried hence slightly tough on the flesh.

But overall it's a pretty good dinner. :D

Rating: 3.5/5

(4/5 if judged mainly on the cold dish and service, the rest of the dishes pulled the ratings down)
